The John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair in Global Business Studies
The John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair in Global Business Studies was established at Kent State University’s College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management in 2003 by John F. Fiedler, former chief executive, and the BorgWarner Corporation. The John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair provides a focus on global business matters for both the Kent academic community and regional interests. This is accomplished by bringing an experienced corporate executive to the Kent State campus to instruct students, and to participate in and direct programs designed to enhance the importance of global business studies. Twice yearly, the John F. Fiedler-BorgWarner Endowed Chair invites distinguished speakers to address significant global business issues and topics.
Dr. Michael Mayo is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Kent State University and has taught international marketing, marketing management, sales, international business and marketing ethics in the undergraduate, graduate and executive development programs. His work has been published in The Academy of Marketing Science, The Journal of Business Research, The Journal of Personal Sales and Sales Management as well as a number of other peered reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Since 1996, Dr Mayo has worked as a consultant for the United Nation's International Trade Center to help develop and deliver purchasing/supply chain management and global competitiveness programs in Africa and Asia. From 2000 to 2002 he was a consultant on a U. S. Information Agency grant to assist Russian universities to expand their institutional missions and work with the business community to support regional economic development. In 1998 he received an Ohio Department of Development grant to study how video conferencing could be used to prospect and qualify sales leads to support small business development and growth. Most recently, he was awarded an Ohio Learning Network grant to work with universities in Canada and Mexico to develop an online training module on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
