University Approves Two Majors in Marketing

The University has approved the Marketing Department's request to offer two separate and distinct marketing majors. The Managerial Marketing major is a continuation of the Department's current program, but under a new and more descriptive name. This program is designed to give students experiences in and outside the classroom that prepare them for a career in marketing, particularly in the small business environment where independent decision-making and analytical skills are highly sought. Students who graduate with a marketing degree in this major will truly be able to function as marketers upon graduation.

For students who seek a more general overview of marketing, the Department offers a second program simply titled "Marketing." Students in the Marketing program will receive a broad exposure to all areas of marketing, with particular emphasis on applications of knowledge to marketing activities. While less hands-on than the Managerial Marketing program, students in the Marketing major will be well prepared to succeed in a wide range of marketing positions. Students interested in either program are encouraged to stop by and talk to Dr. Kolbe in the Department of Marketing (BSA 534) or visit an advisor in the Undergraduate Programs Office (BSA 107) for more information.
