Graduate Programs
The Graduate
School of Management offers study in five graduate degree programs. The
MBA program is fully accredited by the AACSB International. Kent is currently
undergoing a 10-year review for reaffirmation of accreditation which will
include the Ph.D. program. Our programs are rigorous, challenging and innovative.
They are:
The Ph.D. in Business Administration is
the most advanced degree offered by the GSM. The degree is designed to prepare
individuals for positions in teaching and research. Demonstrated scholarly
work or potential for such work is expected of all applicants. Areas of
concentration include: Accounting, Finance, Management Systems and Marketing.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is offered in two
formats: the Full-time (day) option or the Professional (evening) option.
The Full-time program begins in the Fall term only. The full-time classes
are small and the atmosphere personalized. The Professional (or P-MBA) program
offers evening classes designed for working professionals in the northeast
Ohio region. The P-MBA program is reflective of the College's commitment
to life-long learning and recognition of the unique challenges and demands
of the working student. Both programs allow specialization in several areas
of concentration.
The Executive MBA is a unique weekend program where business
professionals forge lasting bonds by taking all their classes together and
studying in teams. The program is designed so that the learning experience
is maximized in a concentrated 19 month period with minimal interference
with the professional's job responsibilities. Significant work experience
and a personal interview are required. The program fee includes tuition,
before class books and all course materials, trip abroad, parking and registrations,
as well as an offsite beginning and ending residency.
The Master of Science Degree in Financial Engineering,
the interdisciplinary Master of Science Degree in Financial Engineering
(MSFE), is designed for students with strong quantitative background with
the goal of becoming risk management officers and/or traders. The program
is a demanding one requiring the fulfillment of 36 credit hours of course
work, including industry projects. It combines the strengths of strong quantitative
skills from mathematics, including probability and numerical computing,
joined with the risk management skills and valuation skills from finance.
This program emphasizes applied skills in the area of financial engineering.
The suggested coursework fits within the guidelines established by the International
Association of Financial Engineers.
The Master of Science in Accounting is designed for students
interested in specializing in accounting or auditing. The program meets
the needs of students with a variety of undergraduate backgrounds. The goal
of the program is to provide students with a quality master's program in
accounting that prepares them for responsible leadership positions in public,
private, nonprofit and government accounting.
The Master of Arts in Economics program provides excellent preparation
for a career in economic research and for doctoral study. One distinct advantage
of Kent's program is its focus on the development of strong analytical and
quantitative skills. The students are well trained in the application of
economic theory and methods of statistical analysis. Two tracks are offered
in the program: Economic Analysis and Financial Economics.
