Nonacademic Grievance Procedures -- 3342-4-40

A. Nonacademic grievance procedures also exist. These include:

Student Employee Grievance Procedure, Student Financial Aid Grievance Procedure, Student Athlete’s Due Process Regulations, and Parking Services Grievance Procedure.

B. In addition to the aforementioned, the office of affirmative action, which is responsible for coordinating the policies and practices of the University regarding equal opportunity without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, ancestry, and handicap, will assist a student who has a complaint of prohibited discrimination.

C. When grievance procedures are not in place in nonacademic areas, the General Nonacademic Grievance Procedure should be used.

D. Any student who has a question about the interpretation or application of a University policy or procedure, is in disagreement with any nonacademic service provider or supervisor, feels that he/she has been treated unfairly, or has some problems which have not been resolved to his/her satisfaction may — except when specific grievance procedures are in place — use the General Nonacademic Grievance Procedure for Students without fear of recrimination. Failure to comply with any of the time limits in the operational procedure shall constitute a waiver of the grievance.

E. Students who are not certain of the appropriate grievance procedure should contact the ombudsman in the office of the vice president and dean enrollment management and student affairs for advice.
