Residence Hall Conduct

Kent State University considers students to be mature individuals who are responsible for establishing and accepting appropriate standards of conduct. Each student is expected o conduct himself/herself in accordance with the regulations of the University and such laws of the city, state, and federal governments that apply and particularly to respect the rights of the citizens of the community.

If this self-responsibility and self-discipline are not exercised by each individual residing in the halls, it becomes necessary for the University to exercise its responsibility for the maintenance of order. Conduct problems occurring in residence halls should be reported to the resident director or a member of the residence hall staff. The resident assistant and/or resident director will attempt to resolve the problem personally. If the problem cannot be resolved or is more serious in nature, residence hall staff will refer the situation to the office of judicial affairs via an incident report.
